Job Description

The Quality Control Inspector performs hands-on testing and inspection of plastic products, ensuring all quality results are accurate, traceable, and compliant with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. This role focuses primarily on quality control testing, with additional responsibilities in laboratory operations and general quality support within a modern manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing on plastics, dedicating approximately 70% of time to testing activities, 20% to laboratory operations, and 10% to related quality tasks.

• Conduct visual inspections and dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify product conformance.

• Verify the validity and accuracy of test results before recording or reporting them.

• Accurately enter test results and quality data into SAP and other ERP-based quality management systems.

• Ensure all test results and related quality data are documented clearly, completely, and in accordance with established procedures.

• Maintain and manage retained samples in line with defined retention procedures, including proper labeling, storage, and traceability.

• Perform routine calibration, verification, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure reliable performance.

• Support laboratory operations by organizing work areas, maintaining equipment readiness, and assisting with routine lab tasks as needed.

• Communicate shift activities, critical quality issues, equipment concerns, and schedule updates to laboratory personnel and leadership through established communication channels.

• Collaborate with production and laboratory teams to address quality concerns and support continuous improvement efforts.

• Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while working in the lab and on the production floor.

• Use Microsoft Office and ERP/SAP systems to generate, review, and update quality-related documentation and reports.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.

• At least 1 year of experience working with ERP systems, including SAP or similar platforms.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for data entry, reporting, and communication.

• Hands-on experience in inspection, quality control, or quality assurance activities.

• Ability to perform accurate measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.

• Experience with visual inspection in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.

• Familiarity with laboratory operations and basic laboratory practices.

• Comfort working with quality management systems and recording data in ERP/SAP.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when verifying and documenting test results.

• Ability to follow established procedures and comply with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plastics manufacturing or testing is preferred.

• Experience working in a modern manufacturing or laboratory environment.

• Exposure to quality inspection processes within an ERP/SAP framework.

• Ability to manage retained samples and maintain organized records.

• Strong communication skills for sharing shift updates and quality concerns with team members and leadership.

• Comfort using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily tasks.

Work Environment

The role is based in a new, bright, and climate-controlled manufacturing facility with an integrated laboratory environment. You will work with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, as well as ERP/SAP systems and Microsoft Office on a regular basis. The position follows a 2-2-3 schedule, meaning you work half the year, with two openings available: one on a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. shift and one on a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. shift, including a shift differential for nights. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies while supporting efficient laboratory and manufacturing operations.E

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
