Team Leader

MS Companies is supporting a manufacturing customer in the search for a Primary Team Leader in San Antonio, TX. This role provides day-to-day leadership for the Quality Lab and a team of Quality Inspectors responsible for dimensional inspection and data analysis. The Team Leader is accountable for lab throughput, measurement accuracy, staff performance, and communication with Production and Engineering to ensure parts and processes meet customer requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications 3+ years of experience in a quality inspection or quality lab role within a manufacturing environment; prior supervisory or lead experience preferred. Working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement equipment, including CMMs, optical comparators, and hand gages. Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Gage R&R/MSA, and AQL sampling methodology. Experience operating within an IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 quality management system. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and hold a team accountable in a fast-paced, multi-shift production environment. Strong data analysis and documentation skills, with experience using SPC tools and quality reporting software. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate inspection findings across departments. Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ERP experience is required. Preferred Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED. SharePoint experience is preferred. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Supervise and schedule Quality Inspectors across assigned shifts to ensure continuous, adequately staffed lab coverage. Oversee in-process checks and final inspection activities, ensuring adherence to control plans, drawings, and GD&T specifications. Review and approve inspection data, SPC charts, and nonconformance reports; promptly expedite trends or out-of-specification conditions to Engineering and Operations. Partner with Quality Engineers to align inspection throughput with production schedules and minimize hold and quarantine time. Train, coach, and develop inspectors on inspection techniques and equipment, including plug and thread gages, optical comparators, calipers, and micrometers. Maintain accurate ERP-linked inspection records, use SharePoint to access controlled documents, and coordinate with Quality to resolve discrepancies between control plans and system entries. Enforce AQL sampling plans and inspection standards consistent with customer specifications and internal quality procedures. Conduct performance evaluations, manage attendance, and address performance or conduct issues for direct reports. Champion a culture of quality awareness, safety, and continuous improvement on the lab floor. Physical and Environment Requirements Stand and walk for extended periods; regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds; and bend, reach, push, pull, or use the hands and fingers repetitively. Work indoors in a manufacturing environment that may include heat, cold, occasional loud noise, dust, and chemical exposure; wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures. Production areas may contain equipment that generates electromagnetic fields.
