Senior Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

Job Description Designs, implements, and optimizes components in distributed systems with an emphasis on scalability, resiliency, and operability. Delivers features and load/performance tests; leverages data plane platforms and distributed state tools for high-volume retrieval, storage, and processing; and reviews peers' implementations for scalability compliance. Builds fault-tolerant paths-including redundancy, replication, and automatic failover-applies recovery-oriented principles, and implements retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts. Proactively detects and mitigates issues via tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry; authors runbooks; and participates in incident response and root-cause analyses. Develops high-quality software solutions that meet user needs and align with organizational business goals. This includes analyzing requirements, designing robust architectures, writing efficient and maintainable code, and conducting thorough testing. Implements standard replication and synchronization, develops automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for troubleshooting and maintenance, and applies advanced security controls-including encryption, access controls, and remediation-while ensuring change, compliance, and documentation standards are met. Responsibilities System Scalability Develops distributed-system components supporting horizontal and vertical scaling through distributed-state-management tools. Optimizes code and systems for large-scale data processing; implements scalability requirements and reviews team implementations. Uses data-plane platform components for large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing. Implements performance and load testing; designs, develops, tests, deploys, and maintains production software and cloud services. Reliability, Correctness, and Availability Builds fault-tolerant components that withstand in-service updates through redundancy, replication, and automatic failover. Applies recovery-oriented computing; implements retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts for network unreliability. Implements tests, alarm configurations, fault-injection, and brown-out scenarios to detect failures and validate correctness. Implements standard data-replication and synchronization techniques to preserve integrity and availability. Drafts and executes runbooks and operational procedures; builds dashboards, telemetry, and alerting for component health. Operations, Security, and Change Management Diagnoses, debugs, and resolves component issues; implements strategies to prevent interruptions and avoid customer maintenance windows. Designs, implements, and maintains automation scripts, tooling, and IaC for troubleshooting and cloud-infrastructure management. Participates in operational-support rotations, incident response, root-cause investigations, and follow-up improvements. Applies advanced multi-tenant security measures, including encryption and access controls; implements remediation plans. Ensures compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, maintains current documentation, and follows change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks. Collaboration and Delivery Partners with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. Writes maintainable code, participates in code reviews, and contributes to testing, security, continuous-delivery, and engineering best practices. Creates technical and operational documentation; drives projects forward and mentors junior team members. Recommends improvements to team processes, protocols, and workflows, seeking input on alternatives. Minimum Job Qualifications Education and/or Experience 8 years of software-development experience; or B.Tech or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer/Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, plus 4 years of software-development experience; or M.Tech or master's degree in those fields, plus 2 years of software-development experience; or Doctorate in those fields. Skills and Experience Same skills as the prior level, plus demonstrated ability or knowledge in distributed systems; prototyping; computer-science programming; software engineering; web development; innovation; cross-functional collaboration; information vulnerabilities; operating systems; API development and integration; applied algorithm engineering; and source control. Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, or a similar language. Strong data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, software-engineering, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Experience building, testing, and debugging production-quality software; familiarity with REST APIs, databases, cloud applications, and agile methodologies. 2 years of cloud-platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud); 3 years of system-level testing and automation; and 2 years delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems. Preferred Job Qualifications The education and software-development experience combinations listed under Minimum Qualifications. Preferred experience includes leading or mentoring team members and cloud-platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud).
