Orting High School, a member of the 2A SPSL, is committed to providing excellence in all of its co-curricular programs. The Orting School District is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Orting High School.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience preferred in coaching/participating in basketball
• Knowledge of basketball techniques and strategies
• Be able to meet all W.I.A.A. requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff and community members
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational skills necessary to support running a solid high school program
• Successful experience working with teenage athletes
• Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship

Minimum Qualifications:

• Be high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program
• Be at least 19 years of age to be an assistant coach
• Current first aid and CPR training
• Flexible schedule
• Must be available immediately after school - 2:15 pm, M-Th and 12:45PM on F
• Completion of required Vector Solutions (SafeSchools) trainings within thirty (30) days of hire/10 days before the start of the sports season.

Benefits:

For coaching positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Coaching positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage. Regular employees who are also in coaching position(s) and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
