Aerospace Manufacturing Technician

Pay: $20.50 - $23.50 per hour

Shift Availability: Day or Swing Shift (Additional $1.50 per hour for swing shift)

Location: Tacoma, WA

Job Summary

General Plastics is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aerospace Plastics Fabrication Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will fabricate and assemble aerospace plastic products using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machinery, and specialized equipment. You will work from blueprints, work orders, and technical documentation to produce high-quality components that meet exact dimensional and finish specifications.

This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on manufacturing work, thrive in a team environment, and take pride in producing precision products used in aerospace and other high-performance industries.

Essential Job Duties

• Fabricate, assemble, cut, and finish aerospace plastic and foam components

• Manipulate precision measuring tools including micrometers and calipers

• Utilize hand tools such as box knives and X-Acto knives

• Spray adhesives, coatings, colors, and other materials onto plastic and foam parts

• Cut, deflash, and fabricate rigid and flexible foam products

• Operate manufacturing equipment including:

• Band saws

• Table saws

• Routers

• Shapers

• Mixing equipment

• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and work orders

• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and compliance with specifications

• Mark, package, and prepare products for shipment

• Follow all safety procedures and quality standards

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production requirements

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required

• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience

• Previous experience in manufacturing environments required

• Aerospace manufacturing and/or plastics manufacturing experience preferred

• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and work safely

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

• Strong finger dexterity for handling and assembling small, detailed components

• Excellent arm-hand steadiness for precision fabrication tasks

• Ability to work with or around chemical solvents and manufacturing materials

Schedule

This position requires flexibility to work either:

• Day Shift

• Swing Shift (+$1.50/hour shift differential)

Optional overtime opportunities may be available. Overtime is never mandatory.
