Human Resource Generalist

Berry Companies Inc , in Wichita, KS is an administrative support group that provides IT, accounting, data processing, payroll, insurance, marketing and financial services to each of its eight operating divisions.

Berry Companies, Inc Berry is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Human Resources Generalist to support our HR team and employees across a variety of functions. This role will provide support in the areas of onboarding, reporting, payroll, training, benefits administration, compliance, and other HR-related initiatives. If you hold a bachelor's degree in human resources or have at least two years of experience in a similar HR role, we 'd like to get to know you.

Monday - Friday dayshift

$55,000- $70,000 depending on experience plus annual bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and manage employee onboarding and new hire orientation
• Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics
• Complete pre-employment screenings for new hires including drug screening and criminal background checks
• Complete and file incoming verifications of employment
• Assist with timecards and payroll
• Administer FMLA and ensure legal compliance
• Administers COBRA to employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Manage employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details in the company's employee database
• Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which may include layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence
• Promote a positive and compliant workplace culture
• Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire & employee turnover rates
• Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
• Ensure compliance with labor regulations
• Remain current with HR best practices and legal requirements
• Verify, code, and submit human resource invoices to accounting department for payment

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of general human resources policies, procedures, and employment laws
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g., Kronos) is a plus
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
• Outstanding customer service skills are essential
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an HR Generalist or 3+ years in a coordinator-level HR role
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
