Roll Label Inspector

Metalcraft is looking for a Roll Label Inspector to join our team in Mason City, Iowa.

This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys focused, hands-on work and takes satisfaction in finding mistakes before a product reaches the customer. You will inspect finished rolls of labels, identify defects, verify that each order meets the customer’s specifications, and prepare the product for shipment.

The work requires concentration, consistency, and patience. You will spend much of your day seated and reviewing labels closely. If you enjoy working carefully, following a process, and knowing that the quality of the finished product depends on you, this may be a strong fit.

• Inspect finished roll label products for printing, material, color, registration, and other quality issues.
• Compare products to job specifications, samples, and established quality standards.
• Identify, remove, and document defective labels.
• Count, sort, rewind, and package label products accurately.
• Insert approved remake labels into rolls when required.
• Complete inspection records and production documentation.
• Use computers and production systems to review and record job information.
• Follow standard work instructions while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.
• Communicate concerns or recurring defects to the appropriate production team members.
• Suggest improvements that could make the inspection and packaging process safer, faster, or more accurate.

• Strong attention to detail.
• The ability to stay focused while performing repetitive and highly detailed work.
• Comfort working with numbers, quantities, measurements, and written specifications.
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn production software.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving ability.
• Dependability and a willingness to work as part of a team.
• Pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Previous manufacturing, printing, inspection, quality, packaging, or machine-operation experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train someone who demonstrates the right level of focus, reliability, and attention to detail.

This position requires the ability to:

• Sit for extended periods.
• Use hands and fingers to handle labels and small materials.
• Visually identify defects, inconsistencies, and printing differences.
• Read job specifications and information displayed on a computer screen.
• Occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
