HVAC Program Lab Assistant

Join our HVAC team at Lincoln Tech in New Britain, CT supporting the next generation of HVAC professionals. This role combines your technical expertise with the opportunity to mentor students in a dynamic lab environment. Maintains lab equipment, tools, and supplies while providing technical support and safety oversight during HVAC laboratory sessions. Works directly with faculty to ensure students receive hands-on training with properly functioning equipment and systems. Responsibilities For An HVAC Program Lab Assistant Assist faculty in setting up laboratory systems, equipment and trainers for student hands-on assignments Monitor students during lab sessions, ensuring adherence to proper safety protocols and industry standards Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to students during laboratory exercises Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on laboratory systems, equipment, and testing instruments Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and consumables; ensure materials are available for each lab session Assist in equipment setup, breakdown, and storage following lab exercises Identify safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and coordinate repairs as needed Communicate with department coordinator regarding equipment status, safety concerns, and student progress Participate in program meetings, workshops, and recruitment events as assigned Requirements Of An HVAC Program Lab Assistant High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with HVAC systems, equipment, and components EPA certification for refrigerant handling Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical HVAC systems Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel) Strong communication skills and ability to work with students Preferred Qualifications HVAC technical certification or associate degree in HVAC/Refrigeration B or D license Experience with HVAC Systems Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience Physical Requirements - (If needed to maintain lab and equipment) Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly Continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling Campus Schedule Monday - Thursday Full-time: 7am - 5pm Part-time schedules also available: Part-Time Day options: 9:15 am - 11:15 am 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm Part-Time Evening options: 8:00 pm - 10:15 pm Benefits 4-day work week with three-day weekends Flexible Schedules: Part-time, Full-time, and Substitute positions available Well-equipped training facility with industry-standard equipment Stability with a well-established institution (80 years) We have successful Skilled Trade programs with proven graduate outcomes Professional development and advancement opportunities Climate-controlled work environment Full-time Comprehensive: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life/Disability Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off and Holidays Part-time benefits: 401(k) with Company Match About Us For 80 years Lincoln Tech has been one of the nation's leading providers of career training in Healthcare, Automotive/Diesel, Skilled Trades, and Information Technology.
