About the Job - Join our team as a Systems Analyst! Are you looking for an exciting career in a dynamic and collaborative environment? Are you a problem solver with strong analytical skills? The Franchise Tax Board's (FTB) Enterprise Applications Analysis Services Section is seeking a new analyst to join our team! We're looking for a Data Governance Analyst who will make a difference in our team as together we solve enterprise problems with meaningful solutions! In this role you will be responsible for performing independently on information technology (IT) systems, problems and analysis activities. The analyst will ensure the Enterprise Data to Revenue (EDR) system is aligned and compliant with Data Governance policies, Enterprise Data Advisory Team (EDAT) standards and data management practices to acquire, administer and consume data which will maximize the value of enterprise assets. As the Data Governance Analyst must have the knowledge to identify, analyze, and evaluate data; think logically and creatively to develop plans; solve problems; make recommendations; and support business functions. They should have the knowledge to develop and maintain test scenarios, test scripts, test data, and validate test results to expected outcomes. The analyst serves as a technical point of contact with departmental teams and completes studies and reports for existing programs used by the business.

In this role, you will:
  • Perform basic data analysis and reporting to support decision-making and problem-solving across different departments and functions.
  • Assist with day-to-day data governance activities. Key responsibilities include creating data standards, managing metadata and data lineage, and fostering a culture of data stewardship to ensure data is trustworthy.
  • Create and update system specifications, change requirements, and other documentation following various Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Be responsible for testing and ensuring system quality by designing, creating, and executing test cases/scripts. Identify, log, verify bugs/defects, and perform functional, regression, and system testing to ensure system meet defined standards before release.
  • Provide production technical support and coordination for data integration services and programs within FTB.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data and make recommendations based on your findings.
  • Communicate and present your analysis results to various levels of stakeholders in both written and verbal form.
  • Attend and/or facilitate meetings with business and technical partners.
  • Provide training and instruction to co-workers and new hires.
