Lead Data Engineer - Mainframe DB2 DBA

As a Lead Data Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Production Management team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for maintaining critical data pipelines and architectures across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.Job responsibilitiesMaintains and supports Db2 database applicationsUses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate data platform and model design analysis and documentation, validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity and security requirements.Experienced with mainframe environment and use of TSO / ISPF / JCLDevelop rapport with application development teams for collaborationExpertise with troubleshooting / diagnosing mainframe db2 related issuesMaintains review of controls to ensure sufficient protection of enterprise dataImplements database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy DDL Deployment , environment data refreshes, regular health checksMaintains highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, and availabilityExperience with SQL and databases utilities including connectivityAdds to team culture of team work , collaboration, and partnershipApplies reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery and operational routines (e.g., backup/recovery validation and access control review support), ensuring traceability/auditability and alignment to resiliency and security expectations.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skillsFormal training or certification on Data Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experienceWorking knowledge of relational databases (RDBMS) and SQL operationsDemonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support data engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.Ability to review and validate AI-assisted outputs (e.g., model/design summaries or operational checklists) before use, escalating when uncertain and following data handling requirements.Working knowledge of JES2 and JCL, including RACF / ACF2 Security and CA7 / ZEKE Experience with performance analysis to optimize SQL workloadsKnowledge of SYSPlex mainframe configuration including Data Sharing Knowledge of the data lifecycle and data management functionsWorking knowledge of mainframe data system components Strong understanding of data modeling fundamentals (e.g., primary and foreign keys, constraints, indexing, etc.)Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, with a passion to build an innovative cultureKnowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsUnderstanding of general Mainframe Utilities, Database Utilities and Stored Procedures Familiar with mainframe environment and the use of TSO / ISPFUnderstanding of Distributed and Static SQL workloadsUnderstanding of plex mainframe configuration including Data Sharing & Stand-InFamiliar with IDAA (Data Analytics Accelerators) JPMorganChase, one of the oldest financial institutions, offers innovative financial solutions to millions of consumers, small businesses and many of the world’s most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients under the J.P.
