Cost Accountant / Cost Accounting Manager

Position Summary

This role is responsible for supporting and overseeing cost accounting and financial operations within an organization. The position focuses on maintaining accurate cost data, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with cross-functional teams to provide insights that drive business performance. Depending on experience, the role may also include leadership responsibilities and oversight of accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, maintenance, and analysis of product or service costs
• Monitor and analyze cost variances, providing insights and recommendations to management
• Participate in monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Assist in inventory accounting and ensure accurate valuation and reporting
• Partner with operations and other departments to improve cost visibility and financial accuracy
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost modeling and analysis
• Help maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and standards
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting and reporting functions
• Provide financial analysis and support for business initiatives and decision-making

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of relevant accounting or cost accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills preferred
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred (for Manager-Level Candidates)

• Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff
• Ability to oversee processes and drive improvements across functions
• Strong business partnering skills and ability to influence decision-making
