Duties Reviews and approves architectural features of various designs and construction documents. Determines terms of cost, system capability, customer requirements and available technology for design projects. Utilizes a Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system to prepare drawings, layouts and specifications. Develops the conceptual designs and criteria needed for complex architectural/engineering projects. Requirements Conditions of employment: You must be a United States Citizen or National. Qualifications Basic Requirement: You must have a degree in architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related discipline of which at least: (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, AND (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. A combination of education and experience – college level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, AND (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. (NOTE: Transcripts MUST be provided.) 5 years of experience conducting relevant professional work in an architect's office or in architectural work. Non‑qualifying experience: The following type of experience is not acceptable as professional architectural experience: professional landscape architecture work, decorative interior design work not altering basic architectural design, and city and community planning work related to broad social and economic growth. You must have a current, valid license to practice Architecture in the United States. (A copy of your license MUST be provided.) Specialized Experience: For the GS‑13, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service utilizing a CADD system to prepare drawings, layouts and design specifications, applying project management principles, methods, and tools to resolve architectural problems and applying architectural design, construction and improvement to buildings. All qualification requirements, including time‑in‑grade, must be met by 06/17/2026 of this announcement. Education Education must be reviewed and certified by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Provide attendance and/or degrees from an accredited institution. Foreign education may be used if credentials are equivalent to a conventional U.S. education program. Provide evidence in English or English translation.
