Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Technologist, MLT. The position performs laboratory testing and phlebotomy services across clinical laboratory departments. Responsibilities include specimen collection and processing, complex laboratory procedures, quality control review, instrument monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining competency in laboratory skills.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, or associate degree for grandfathered personnel; Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certification through ASCP or equivalent. New Medical Technologist graduates must pass the certification examination within six months of employment start.
- Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. No weekend requirements; call may be required as needed.
- Additional Information: Collects, processes, and receives blood, urine, fecal, and body fluid specimens for analysis. Performs testing across clinical laboratory departments, evaluates and resolves specimen-related issues, recognizes deviations from expected results, analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles, reviews quality control data, responds to inquiries regarding test results and methodologies, monitors instrument indicators and laboratory temperatures, and participates in the evaluation and revision of laboratory techniques and procedures. Experience with Abbott Alinity, ACL TOPS 350, GeneXpert, Beckman Coulter, TORCH, and Clinitek analyzers is preferred but not required.
