Accounting Clerk

Sirius Staffing is seeking an Accounting Clerk for a contract position in Springfield, MO to support a full range of accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, collections, and month-end reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable Process daily invoicing, post payments, prepare deposits, and issue credit memos. Ensure invoices are processed accurately and in accordance with client contracts and company procedures. Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding accounts over 30 days. Contact clients regarding past-due balances and resolve billing discrepancies. Research and respond to payment and invoice inquiries. Print and distribute current and past-due invoices as needed. Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices, payments, pre-payment requests, and maintain vendor files. Maintain accurate W-9 documentation and ensure compliance before issuing payments. Investigate and resolve vendor billing discrepancies. Obtain required approvals and ensure timely payment of invoices. Prepare and manage weekly check runs. Escalate unresolved vendor or provider issues to management. General Accounting Duties Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities. Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits. Maintain organized and confidential financial records. Perform general administrative duties, including filing, scanning, and responding to telephone inquiries. Support the accounting team with additional projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting. Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to calculate rates, percentages, and financial data accurately. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting software is preferred. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information. Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
