Professional Development Assistant (Multiple Offices)

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a Professional Development Assistant. We are considering candidates in any of our U.S. offices including Century City, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, San Diego (Del Mar), San Diego (Downtown), San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC. There is only one opening. Job Summary The Professional Development Assistant will work with members of the Talent Management and Human Resources team to support and assist with all facets of professional development for attorneys and the business services team. This is a recently added role within the department due to the increased responsibilities relating to projects including business services training and development, attorney evaluation process, legal skills training and benchmarks, and attorney integration and engagement. Essential Functions Work closely with the Professional Development Team including Attorney Professional Development, Legal Skills Training, and Business Services Professional Development and Chief PD & Inclusion Officer to support goals of the team and firm. Assist in the coordination of the attorney annual evaluation processes. Connect, track and report on various functions such as the mentor programs, attrition statistics and headcount. Assist in the coordination of training programs, academies, and workshops. Process and track expense reports and invoices. Handle scheduling, drafting invitations and other communications, attendance tracking, preparing materials, coordinating with conference services, catering, technology, etc. Assume other responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications 2+ years of professional development experience. Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree Computer/Software Knowledge Required: Strong Microsoft Office Applications including Teams Preferred: Experience with viDesktop and CE Manager is a plus. Work Environment Working indoors with limited exposure to hazards (only those that customarily come up in working in a high-rise/office building). Indoor office work environment in a cubical or like workstation. Overtime will be required as the job duties demand. The current Firm policy is hybrid–working in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change). Travel Requirements Travel to academies and conferences when required. Salary and Benefits California: The salary range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00 per hour Illinois: The salary range for this position is: $36.00 - $41.00 per hour. This position is eligible for bonuses. This position is also eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance.
