Location: Memphis, TN

Compensation: $85,000–$115,000 Base + Performance Incentives (Based on Experience)

About the Opportunity

A well-established commercial roofing contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to join its growing team in Memphis, TN. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for new construction, re-roof, restoration, and maintenance projects while supporting the sales and operations teams throughout the bidding process.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial roofing estimating, is proficient with The EDGE estimating software , and understands how to develop competitive bids while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Project Evaluation & Takeoffs

• Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and drawings to determine project scope.
• Perform site visits and roof inspections to gather information for accurate estimates.
• Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and material calculations.
• Prepare estimates for new construction, re-roof, restoration, and coating projects.
• Manage multiple bids while consistently meeting proposal deadlines.

Cost Estimating

• Develop detailed estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, overhead, and project costs.
• Utilize The EDGE estimating software to prepare accurate proposals and budgets.
• Analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.

Vendor & Client Coordination

• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Follow up on submitted proposals and maintain communication throughout the bidding process.

Team Collaboration

• Partner closely with Sales, Project Managers, and Operations to ensure seamless project handoffs.
• Assist with value engineering and alternative pricing when appropriate.
• Support project teams during pre-construction planning.

Data Management & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
• Monitor industry pricing, material trends, and market conditions.
• Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Continuously improve estimating processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of commercial roofing estimating experience.
• Strong proficiency with The EDGE Estimating Software is required.
• Thorough knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
• Experience preparing estimates for new construction, re-roof, restoration, and maintenance projects.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Established relationships with General Contractors and commercial construction professionals in the Memphis market.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Work Environment

• Combination of office-based estimating and field/site visits.
• Occasional overtime may be required to meet bid deadlines.
• Ability to safely access rooftops, climb ladders, and perform roof inspections.
