What You'll Do This position will be located at our Corporate Office: 2355 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027

The Commercial Loan Officer serves as a key advisor and business development leader, cultivating strong commercial relationships and expanding the credit union's presence in the business community. This role is responsible for sourcing and structuring commercial loan opportunities, driving deposit growth, and actively managing a diverse portfolio to deliver sustained financial performance. In partnership with credit and internal teams, the officer ensures efficient, compliant lending execution and exceptional member experience. The position also contributes to continuous product improvement and supports the development of junior bankers/lenders to strengthen overall department capabilities.

Essential Functions

• Drives commercial lending growth by sourcing, analyzing, structuring, and negotiating high-quality credit opportunities aligned to credit union risk appetite.
• Presents underwriting recommendations and collaborates with credit partners to facilitate timely approvals.
• Proactively manages portfolio performance, identifies early warning indicators, and executes risk mitigation strategies to protect credit quality.
• Expands and deepens business relationships by growing deposits, fee income, and adoption of treasury/cash management solutions.
• Maintains disciplined calling activity through site visits, proactive outreach, and CRM documentation.
• Works collaboratively across business units to ensure seamless credit delivery and exceptional member experience.
• Reviews loan documentation and closing packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Partners with credit and underwriting teams to develop recommendations and formally present larger credits to the lending committee.
• Promotes the credit union's full suite of commercial and retail solutions; delivers qualified referrals to partner teams.
• Represents the credit union in the business community, strengthening brand visibility and generating pipeline opportunities.
• Provides market intelligence to leadership regarding emerging trends, competitive conditions, and strategic product needs.
• Maintains strong knowledge of commercial lending policies, legal requirements, and compliance obligations including BSA/AML regulatory frameworks.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Bachelor's degree in finance or related field preferred.
• 5-8 years similar or related experience of commercial lending, banking experience, including leadership experience required.
• Expertise in commercial lending and credit analysis
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Expertise in banking industry
• Knowledge and experience with office suite software (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention-to-detail, organization, and multitasking skills.

• Target hiring range: $96,664.36 - $120,830.45 (Depending on experience and prior to any incentives this position is eligible for)
