12530 Parklawn Drive, Headquarters - Rockville, MD, Maryland Job Position Type Full Time Overview The Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager I assists the project team with the daily management, coordination, and execution of the construction process. This role supports safety management, quality, cost management, contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration to ensure successful completion of projects, both timely and within budget. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience General Contracting experience Minimum of two (2) years previous construction experience Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction project management, including safety standards Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical systems and processes Ability to effectively mentor junior team members Project management and scheduling software experience Some sustainable building experience (such as LEED certified projects) or knowledge of sustainable building practices Certifications / accreditations (CPR / First Aid, OSHA 30‑hour, WELL, ILFI, LEED) preferred Technical Job Knowledge Prepares cost estimates, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics Assists with trade management, reviews trade partner work tickets, and manages trade partner submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedules May serve as the lead day‑to‑day PM on a smaller project, responsible for setting up, managing, and maintaining these items Manages multiple projects concurrently at various stages of construction Prepares subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and assists in the issuance of change proposals and change orders Creates and manages quality control and deficiency logs using software Maintains a complete, current, and accurate set of contract documents and as‑builts Enforces the DAVIS Safety program and participates in safety walks Assists in the management of the project closeout process, including preparing and completing project closeout checklists and managing the project punch list process Works effectively within the team and promotes a collaborative environment with owners, property managers, design team members, co‑workers, trade partners, vendors, and other contractors Leads trade partner preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings Mentors and assists junior team members; may have formal supervisory responsibilities Provides and uses subcontractor qualification reports to assess trade partner performance Assists in monthly project owner invoicing, including trade partner invoicing reviews and material invoicing reviews Core Competencies for the Role Autonomy + Accountability – uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products and services; works independently with minimal guidance; accountable for own work and possibly others on the team Business Impact – impacts own team, adjacent teams, and potentially across the company; decisions are made with minimal guidance and may affect the success of the department or revenue group; contributes to strategic market sector or department business development planning Talent Development – serves as a lead for the team, leading small projects; may have formal supervisory responsibilities; provides subject matter guidance to team members with less experience Problem Solving + Resiliency – provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or procedures; gathers and analyzes data to identify and solve problems that arise with little or no precedent Core Values TRUST – excellence in service, fulfilling our clients’ highest expectations INCLUSION – ensuring a culture of respect and acceptance, where all employees have a sense of purpose and belonging INTEGRITY – exhibiting honesty and fairness while holding ourselves accountable for our actions BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS – creating and maintaining strong partnerships through leadership, creative solutions and hard work EXCELIENCE IN SERVICE – fulfilling our clients’ highest expectations Compensation The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is $88,000.00 - $105,000.00.
