Registered Nurse - PACUThe Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) plays a crucial role in delivering professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position is focused on patient recovery and monitoring in a critical care environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport and promote the core mission and values of the organization.Deliver nursing care to assigned patients while collaborating with medical staff and adhering to the hospital's objectives and policies.Complete all unit-specific competencies required for caring for critically ill patients.Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the scope of practice.Ensure comprehensive clinical documentation and care plans for all assigned patients are completed in a timely manner.Seek and apply feedback regarding nursing practice to enhance care quality.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current practice standards, including ANA and the Nurse Practice Act.Communicate patient information effectively for continuity and safety during handoffs and interactions with providers.Create a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to established protocols.Implement initiatives for improving patient safety and actively promote a culture of safety within the unit.Conduct hourly rounding on all assigned patients in conjunction with Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs).Identify and assist in resolving patient care safety issues.Recognize and acknowledge excellent performance among colleagues.Foster respectful relationships by proactively addressing concerns and providing suggestions.Collaborate across units and shifts to resolve conflicts and address issues promptly.Consult with nurses from other departments to leverage expertise in various clinical areas.Exhibit professionalism and positivity in challenging situations, supporting fellow team members as needed.Participate in peer reviews and contribute to survey readiness efforts.Practice within the framework of shared governance and the organization's philosophy.Assist with solution identification for problems and conflicts within the unit.Delegate care and unit activities to other nursing personnel effectively.Collaborate in planning, supervising, and instructing nursing students and aides.Model the organization's values and hold peers accountable for maintaining a collaborative work environment.Manage earned time off (ETO) per policy and avoid unauthorized overtime.Perform other duties as needed in alignment with this role.QualificationsExperience in critical care preferred, with a minimum of three years' experience recommended.Proficient in the insertion of Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS; knowledge of contraindications and reversal for IV adenosine infusion is required.Capability to safely administer procedural sedation and successfully pass annual sedation examinations.Basic Dysrhythmia training is preferred and should be completed prior to orientation.NHISS certification is preferred and should be obtained prior to orientation.Current RN license in New Hampshire is required.BLS and ACLS certifications are required, except for specific roles within Pre-Admission Testing and the Operating Room.Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training is preferred and should be obtained prior to orientation.Graduation from an accredited Nursing program is preferred.Shift InformationDays with holiday coverage required.Experience RequirementsLess than 1 year of experience is acceptable; however, candidates with relevant critical care experience are encouraged to apply.Client Details City Nashua State NH
