Manual Lathe & Milling Machinist – Heavy Component Repair

Location: Newark, Delaware

Schedule: Full-Time

Shifts:

• 1st: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• 2nd: 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

• Translate blueprints, engineering drawings, specs, work instructions, and GD&T into precise setups and parts.
• Set up and operate manual equipment to fabricate and repair precision components to tight tolerances.
• Execute drilling, tapping, boring, lapping, cylinder bore honing, internal/external thread chasing, facing, and precision fitting.
• Tram milling heads/quills; align vises and angle plates for perfect geometry.
• Center/indicate round and non-round stock for accurate machining.
• Select tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds matched to material and operation.
• Inspect with micrometers, indicators, and gauges to meet customer requirements.
• Deburr/clean parts and prepare for downstream processes.
• Collaborate with supervisors, quality, and fellow machinists to drive output and quality.
• Keep the work area organized and safe; follow all safety policies.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.

• Vertical, Knee, and Horizontal Milling Machines
• Bridgeport Mills
• Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs)
• Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs)

• At least five (5) years running manual mills and lathes.
• Experience operating Engine Lathes, Turret Lathes, Bridgeport Mills, Vertical/Knee/Horizontal Mills, VTLs, and VBMs.
• Comfortable with three-jaw centering chucks (reversible jaws), four-jaw independent chucks (reversible jaws), tailstocks, steady rests, and compound rest angle setups.
• Fluent with OD/ID micrometers, dial test indicators, bore gauges, right-angle heads, indexing heads, rotary tables, boring heads, facing heads, and tapping heads.
• Strong print reading, GD&T comprehension, and shop math; proven problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• 18 years of age or older; high school diploma or GED.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment physical, lift assessment, and drug screening.

• Journeyman Machinist certification
• Exposure to CNC machining
• Large-part, close-tolerance machining
• Industrial repair/refurb experience
• ISO 9001 quality environment experience

• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions all shift.
• Lift to 50 lbs independently; use overhead cranes/assists for heavier items.
• Maintain dexterity for safe machine and instrument operation.
• Work safely around industrial machinery.
