WGL - Supervisor Field Operations

Supervisor – Field Operations Washington Gas has an immediate opening for an experienced utilities professional to supervise the daily activities within Field Operations. Schedule: 6:00AM–2:00PM or 10:00AM–6:00PM. Must be available for 24hours a day, 7 days a week emergency response and on‑call rotations. Responsibilities Supervise the daily work of Washington Gas employees and contractors involved in all aspects of infrastructure maintenance. Lead hiring, evaluation, training, performance management, compensation, motivation, coaching, and development of staff. Ensure that Field Operations meet or exceed corporate, business unit, regulatory, and project objectives while complying with Company policies. Ensure projects are completed within budgetary limitations. Oversee safe operation, maintenance, tie‑in of gas mains, and emergency response for an assigned region of the pipeline system. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes. Distribute planned leak repairs and other pipeline tasks among crews. Coordinate immediate and emergency response activities to protect customers, the public, and employees. Establish guidelines and practices to maintain facilities in accordance with applicable regulations. Perform on‑call duties when required. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 5+ years of related work experience, preferably in the natural gas industry, appliance service, natural gas piping, HVAC, or construction. Valid driver’s license. Pass gas odor recognition testing. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to reconcile conflicting goals, prioritize, and lead projects to completion. Working knowledge of pipeline construction, replacement, operations, maintenance, and emergency response procedures. Extensive knowledge of appliance service, gas distribution, heating & air conditioning, pipe work, electrical wiring, controls, venting, and ventilation. Mechanical aptitude. Planning and scheduling skills. Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office and related business applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of ideas. Ability to build effective relationships with partners, supervisors, subordinates, and peers. Analytical problem‑solving skills for narrowly defined business problems. Benefits Salary: $103,500–$150,750 per year, commensurate with experience. Health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
