At Chick-fil-A Nanuet, the Host role is more than just a job; it's an opportunity. In addition to working directly for an independent Owner/Operator, Dining Room Hosts gain life experience that goes far beyond serving a great product in a friendly environment. As a Host, you are the guardian of the guest experience — responsible for ensuring every guest who chooses to dine with us, pick up an order, or pull through our drive-thru encounters a restaurant that is clean, welcoming, and cared for inside and out.
About the Role
The Host is one of the most important and most visible roles in our restaurant. You'll move seamlessly between two responsibilities that are equally critical: caring for our dine-in guests with warmth and attentiveness, and keeping every part of our restaurant — dining room, condiment stand, restrooms, patio, parking lot, drive-thru lanes — clean, stocked, and inspection-ready at all times. If you take pride in a job well done, can shift gears between sweeping the parking lot and chatting with a family of regulars without missing a beat, and believe that cleanliness is a form of hospitality, this role is for you.

What You'll Do
Guest Hospitality
- Greet every guest warmly as they enter the restaurant — eye contact, a genuine smile, and a personal welcome
- Open doors for guests, help with high chairs, and assist families, elderly guests, and guests with accessibility needs
- Conduct table touches throughout the dining room, checking in with guests to refill drinks, offer fresh sauces, and ensure everything is just right
- Assist in delivering meals to mobile and dine-in orders to guests at their tables with a personal touch
- Help guests with special requests — refills, extra napkins, kids' placemats, or anything else that makes their visit better
- Engage with children and families in age-appropriate, fun ways, making the visit memorable
- Respond to guest concerns with patience, empathy, and a problem-solving mindset, escalating to a leader when needed
Dining Room Cleanliness
- Wipe down and sanitize tables, chairs, high chairs, and booster seats between every guest
- Clean and sanitize trays and table markers, restocking them at the counter ready for the next guest
- Keep the beverage station, condiment area, and entryway clean, stocked, and inviting throughout your shift
- Sweep and spot-mop the dining room floor as needed throughout your shift
- Empty interior trash cans before they overflow and replace liners
Restroom Maintenance
- Inspect restrooms on a regular rotation throughout your shift (typically every 20–30 minutes during peak periods)
- Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, mirrors, toilets, and floors
- Restock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and air fresheners
- Address spills, clogs, and other issues immediately, escalating to a leader for anything beyond routine cleaning
Exterior and Patio
- Keep the patio clean and inviting — wipe down outdoor tables and chairs, empty patio trash cans, and sweep the patio area
- Walk the parking lot regularly to pick up trash, cigarette butts, and stray cups or wrappers
- Keep the drive-thru lanes and curb areas clean and clear of debris
- Check and maintain the exterior trash cans and ensure the dumpster area stays tidy
- Monitor exterior signage, landscaping borders, and entryway for anything that needs attention
Team Support
- Take out trash from the dining room, restrooms, and patio to the dumpster throughout your shift
- Communicate with leadership about any maintenance issues, supply needs, or guest concerns
- Support Front of House teammates during peak rushes by helping deliver orders, bussing tables, and keeping flow moving
- Live out all of the Chick-fil-A and restaurant specific standards: "My pleasure" isn't just a phrase, it's a posture
How Your Hours Will Work
Shifts are assigned based on the availability you share with us and the needs of the business. We aim to keep schedules largely consistent week to week, though specific shifts may vary.
Dining Room Host shifts at Chick-fil-A Nanuet are scheduled around our highest dining-room and exterior-traffic windows and generally fall into one of the following blocks:
- Mid-morning shifts start between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, opening the dining room and exterior areas for the lunch rush.
- Midday shifts start between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM and cover the lunch rush, the busiest dining room window of the day.
- Afternoon shifts start between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM and bridge the lunch and dinner periods, including a full reset of the dining room and exterior between rushes.
- Closing shifts start between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM and run through store close. The latest scheduled end time is 11:00 PM , with most closing shifts ending between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM. End-of-day responsibilities include deep cleaning the dining room and restrooms, walking the parking lot one final time, and shutting down the front of the house.
Most shifts run 4 to 8 hours. Schedules are posted weekly, and we ask Dining Room Hosts to be available for a consistent set of shift blocks rather than scattered single hours.
The number of hours you receive may be influenced by:
- Reliability — your attendance and punctuality
- Hospitality presence — your warmth, attentiveness, and ability to genuinely connect with guests
- Ownership — how proactively you spot and address cleanliness and maintenance needs without being asked
- Consistency — how well you execute the standards and expectations of the role
New Dining Room Hosts typically receive extra hours early on to support training. During onboarding, a single day may include both a training block and a working block, and you'll learn how we approach guest engagement, dining room standards, restroom protocols, and exterior maintenance before working independently. Hours adjust as you grow into the role.
And remember — Chick-fil-A Nanuet is closed every Sunday. A guaranteed day of rest for the entire team.

Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Genuine warmth and a service-oriented personality
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) for portions of your shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions (bending, reaching, carrying trays, pushing trash carts)
- Comfortable using cleaning chemicals safely, following all product instructions and safety protocols
- Comfortable initiating conversations with guests of all ages and backgrounds
- Strong attention to detail — you notice things others walk past
- Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (closed Sundays)
Preferred:
- 6+ months of customer service, hospitality, custodial, or food service experience a plus
- Prior experience in a guest-facing role (server, host, retail, hotel) a plus
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish or other languages a plus)
- Experience working with children and families a plus
- Prior experience in a team-based environment
