About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Telemetry Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - 18+ months of recent Med/Tele experience - Great communication and time management skills - Rural hospital experience preferred Description: This position involves working in a Med/Telemetry unit. The hospital relies heavily on travelers in Med/Tele units. Candidates must understand that block scheduling is not accommodated. Teamwork is essential to provide quality care for the community. The unit has 25 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1. Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, and chronic kidney disease. Registered Nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips. Heparin is the only titratable drip in this unit. Patient Care Technicians are present with a ratio of 12:1. Common equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen. Travelers will float to all Med/Surg units, possibly to the Progressive Care Unit for Tele patients. Shifts are scheduled based on the needs of the facility. Every other weekend and holiday work is required. The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. This position will utilize a Paragon Charting System and transition to a new system later in 2026.
