About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 18+ months of recent Med/Tele experience; great communication and time management skills; rural hospital experience preferred. Description: The position requires a team player who is dedicated to working hard and contributing to caring for the patients of the community. This is a rural hospital that is dependent on travelers in Med/Tele units. The facility is well-managed, with stable leadership in place. However, there is limited continuity with staff, which may be challenging for some individuals. Travelers cannot be accommodated with block scheduling. The hospital offers 36 hours per week or 36/48 hours bi-weekly. There are 25 beds on the unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1. RNs will be required to titrate only Heparin drips. Telemonitor techs monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read strips. Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are available for support. Patient Care Technicians are present with a ratio of 12:1. The unit cares for patients with common diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, and chronic kidney disease. Cpap, Bipap, and high flow patients are managed on this unit. The scheduling is determined by the manager, and every other weekend is required. Holidays also need to be worked as part of the commitment. Floating may occur to all Med/Surg units, possibly to PCU for Tele holds prior to transfer. The dress code is navy blue. The charting system used is Paragon and is transitioning to a new system soon. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
