Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Inpatient)

Job Summary

Provides perioperative nursing care to inpatients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures. Functions as scrub and/or circulating nurse, ensuring a safe surgical environment and coordinating care throughout the pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases.

Education & Experience
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• Minimum 1-2 years of operating room nursing experience (Preferred)

Licenses & Certifications
• Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
• CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification (Preferred)

Key Responsibilities
• Prepares the operating room, including instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled procedures.
• Functions as scrub or circulating nurse, maintaining sterile technique throughout surgery.
• Performs surgical counts and ensures accurate documentation of instruments, sponges, and devices.
• Monitors patient status and anticipates surgeon and anesthesia needs during procedures.
• Coordinates with pre-op and PACU staff to ensure safe patient handoff and continuity of care.
• Documents intraoperative care and maintains compliance with infection control standards.
