Property Accounting Manager

Base Salary: Up to $140,000 + 10% bonus Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in-office to Hinsdale, IL Company Overview We are partnering with a well-established real estate investment and asset management organization that owns and manages a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate investments across multiple asset classes. As the portfolio continues to expand, the organization is adding an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting activities for a growing commercial and hospitality real estate portfolio. The Opportunity The Accounting Manager will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, and accounting operations for one or more real estate investment entities, serving as the primary accounting resource for an assigned portfolio. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this position offers broad exposure to real estate accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, REIT accounting, cash management, and process improvement initiatives while partnering closely with tax, asset management, and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Manage the monthly close process for one or more real estate investment entities Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements Prepare consolidation entries and intercompany eliminations Perform monthly variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP Accounting Operations Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting processes Support internal controls and accounting policy compliance Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency Cash Management & Compliance Oversee cash forecasting and internal cash movements Partner with the tax team to support REIT compliance, tax reporting, and state filing requirements Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors Support special accounting projects and organizational initiatives Business Partnership Serve as the primary accounting resource for the assigned real estate portfolio Partner closely with finance, tax, asset management, and executive leadership Provide financial analysis and reporting that supports operational and strategic decision-making Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed Ideal Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive accounting experience CPA preferred or strong public accounting background Experience within commercial real estate, REITs, real estate funds, or public accounting serving real estate clients Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience working with enterprise accounting systems Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Preferred Backgrounds REITs Real estate private equity firms Asset management firms Public accounting firms with significant real estate client experience Institutional real estate owners and operators Why This Opportunity Opportunity to oversee accounting for a growing commercial and hospitality real estate portfolio High-visibility role with exposure to executive leadership and cross-functional business partners Broad responsibility across financial reporting, REIT accounting, audit coordination, and cash management Stable, well-established real estate investment platform with long-term growth opportunities Collaborative team environment with strong career advancement potential Hybrid work schedule with competitive compensation and bonus opportunity #J-18808-Ljbffr Connect Search, LLC
