Emergency and ICU Registered Veterinary Technician Hiring bonus: $2500 Location: Durham, NC Schedule: Full-time; 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts About the Employer Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital (TVRH) provides 24‑hour emergency service and specialty referrals in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, neurology, radiology and rehabilitation. Our new facilities offer the latest diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and in‑house laboratory services. We have a committed staff of 19 veterinarians and over 50 support team members, providing dedicated, high‑quality care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Job Overview ER and ICU RVTs provide critical care to patients in emergency situations and those with acute or chronic illnesses that require hospitalization. They work closely with Emergency Clinicians, ER/ICU Veterinary Assistants and Patient Care Assistants. They can expect to: Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring Observe patients and recognize changes in status Place peripheral and central catheters Restrain patients for exams and treatments Participate in nurse rounds Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids Maintain urinary catheters Bandage removal and application Perform suture and drain removal Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ) Administer other medications (PO, OU, OD) Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients Basic wound cleaning and care Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia Obtain samples for and perform in house laboratory testing Assist in CPR Required Education & Experience Graduation from high school or GED equivalent RVT licensed or eligible in NC 2+ years as veterinary assistant or technician in a fast‑paced veterinary hospital; specialty or emergency experience preferred Benefits Health, vision, and dental HSA and FSA Plans Short‑term and long‑term disability Critical Illness, Accident and Hospital Indemnity Life Insurance 401k with employer match Paid Parental Leave Internal benefits include PTO, CE PTO and allowance, uniform allowance, and veterinary services discount.
