Math and Reading Interventionist

Job Title Math and Reading Intervention Teacher Location Alice Terry Elementary School, Englewood, CO Position Summary Sheridan School District 2 is seeking a Math and Reading Intervention Teacher with experience working with multilingual learners and students requiring additional academic support. The intervention teacher provides targeted academic support to students who need instruction beyond Tier I classroom instruction in literacy and mathematics. The intervention teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and administrators to identify student needs, analyze assessment data, implement evidence‑based interventions, and monitor student progress. The teacher serves as a key member of the school’s MTSS team and supports the implementation of district‑approved intervention programs with fidelity. Qualifications for All Licensed Positions Required Must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License. Science of Reading Certification. K‑3 teachers must hold an Evidence‑Based Reading Training certification or be willing to complete the required training immediately upon hire. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence‑based literacy and mathematics instruction and intervention practices. Preferred Bilingual or multilingual. Experience working within an MTSS/RTI framework. Knowledge of district‑approved literacy and mathematics intervention programs. Experience working with multilingual learners and students experiencing academic risk. Experience analyzing assessment data and implementing targeted interventions. General Expectations Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding evidence‑based literacy and mathematics instruction and intervention. Experience working collaboratively with teams to support student achievement. Demonstrated knowledge of content and teaching methods related to literacy and mathematics. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs of elementary‑aged students. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students, and families. Demonstrated understanding and empathy necessary for working with students. Supervise, coach, and support intervention assistants and paraprofessionals providing targeted academic support. Support staff in implementing district‑approved literacy and mathematics intervention programs with fidelity. Analyze assessment data to drive intervention decisions, progress monitoring, and grade‑level data conversations. Serve as an active member of the MTSS team. Key Result Areas and Attendance Responsibilities Instructional Planning Plan for effective use of intervention time utilizing district‑approved literacy and mathematics intervention programs. Analyze universal screening, diagnostic, and progress‑monitoring data to identify student needs and determine intervention groups. Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and instructional support personnel. Participate in weekly PLCs, data meetings, MTSS, and RtI meetings. Continue professional growth through educational meetings, professional learning opportunities, and professional literature. Use formal and informal assessment methods to identify student strengths and areas of need. Instructional Interaction (Teaching) Apply evidence‑based instructional practices in literacy and mathematics to enhance student achievement. Apply principles of the Science of Reading to literacy intervention instruction. Utilize instructional methods appropriate for intervention goals and student needs. Differentiated and modified instruction based on assessment data. Provide effective communication and feedback to students. Maintain high levels of student engagement and participation during intervention instruction. Evaluation of Instruction Administer and interpret literacy and mathematics diagnostic assessments to develop targeted intervention plans. Use formal and informal assessment tools to guide instructional decisions. Prepare and deliver daily small‑group and individualized literacy and mathematics intervention lessons. Provide specialized instructional strategies to support academic growth while addressing students’ social‑emotional needs. Select and utilize instructional materials appropriate for student needs. Participate in student conferences, MTSS meetings, and family communication regarding student progress. Effectively communicate student growth and intervention outcomes to students, families, and staff. Monitor intervention effectiveness and adjust instructional plans as needed. Mathematics Intervention Responsibilities Deliver evidence‑based mathematics interventions aligned with district curriculum and Colorado Academic Standards. Support students in developing number sense, computation fluency, mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving skills, and conceptual understanding. Use diagnostic and progress‑monitoring data to identify skill deficits and measure growth. Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention support with grade‑level instruction and learning targets. Instructional Management Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instructional time. Maintain accurate records of intervention services, student progress, and assessment data. Provide regular progress reports to families and school personnel. Communicate intervention plans and student progress with classroom teachers. Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal or supervisor.

Professional Responsibilities Participate in professional growth opportunities. Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Colorado educators. Recognize problems and actively contribute to solutions. Collaborate with colleagues to support district goals and priorities. Demonstrate concern for student health, safety, and well‑being. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the position. General Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a prompt and efficient manner. Follow Board of Education policies, building procedures, and district regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal in accordance with district policies. Clearance Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through fingerprint submission. Salary Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon highest degree earned, college credits earned after highest degree and previous teaching experience. Placement on Step 9 of the Licensed Salary Schedule is the highest initial step. Salary will be determined by the number of hours scheduled to work each day and the number of days scheduled to work each year, then spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the first working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday. Benefits Employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for district benefits: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and supplemental benefits. Benefits also qualify for leave, which may include vacation and daily leave as determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA). Employees are required to contribute 11% of salary pre‑tax to PERA; the district contributes 21%.
