Support the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals

Gateway Technical College's School of Health is seeking qualified individuals interested in supporting students and faculty in its skills and simulation labs.

Casual employees are hired for a specific period of time and work under the supervision of the department or area that hires them. Hours may vary from week to week, and the assignment may end at any time.

Available assignments may include Skills Lab opportunities in Kenosha, Racine and Elkhorn.

What You Will Do

Support Student Learning

• Assist students in skills classes and reinforce learning through hands-on skill practice.
• Participate in activities that support the educational process.
• Monitor open lab sessions and provide appropriate student support.
• Run simulators in a simulation lab after completing the required additional training.

Maintain the Lab Environment

• Set up classroom and laboratory spaces before learning activities.
• Clean up classroom and laboratory spaces following learning activities.
• Maintain lab supplies and equipment.
• Follow the procedures and expectations established by the assigned department or area.

Meet Position and Scheduling Requirements

• Work the hours required for the assigned position.
• Be available for shifts that may begin as early as 6:30 a.m. or end as late as 9:00 p.m.
• Be available as needed Monday through Saturday.
• Review and discuss the specific skills and abilities required for the assignment with the hiring department.

What You Need to Succeed

Nursing Skills Lab

Applicants interested in working in a nursing skills lab must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Simulation Lab

Applicants interested in working in a simulation lab must have one of the following:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN);
• Current licensure as a Paramedic; or
• Credentialing as a Nationally Registered EMT-P.

Occupational Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of one year of working experience in their field.

Department-Specific Requirements

Each department or area may have conditions specific to its position. Employees are expected to review the requirements for each position and provide any required documents, credentials or examinations to their supervisor.

Conditions of Employment

• Applicants must be age 16 or older.
• Applicants must meet employment eligibility requirements for the United States.
• Gateway Technical College does not sponsor employment-based visas.
• Applicants must provide any documents, credentials or examinations required for the specific assignment.
• Gateway Technical College does not provide relocation assistance.

Work Authorization

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. International students seeking employment must be currently enrolled at Gateway Technical College and have an F-1 or M-1 visa. After receiving a job offer, the supervisor will provide employment details to Human Resources and request an Intent Letter. The international student must then obtain a Social Security number for tax purposes.
