Customer Service Representative

Customer Service Representative Our client is seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative with a background in either the trucking, transportation, cargo, freight, distribution, or drayage industry. The successful candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for customers, drivers, dispatchers, warehouses, terminals, and internal operations personnel, ensuring shipments are coordinated efficiently and customers receive timely and accurate updates. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the daily demands of a transportation/logistics environment and is comfortable working in a fast-paced operation where communication, follow-through, and attention to detail are essential. Responsibilities: Serve as the primary customer-service contact for transportation, trucking, freight, cargo, and drayage customers. Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, pickup and delivery appointments, delays, exceptions, and delivery schedules. Track shipments and provide accurate, timely updates to customers and internal operations. Coordinate closely with dispatchers, drivers, warehouse personnel, terminals, carriers, and customers. Enter and maintain shipment information, customer requests, delivery information, and related documentation in transportation/logistics systems. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, service issues, and shipment discrepancies professionally and efficiently. Assist with scheduling pickups and deliveries and resolving appointment or routing issues. Monitor shipments for delays, missed appointments, equipment issues, and other exceptions and communicate these issues to the appropriate parties. Review and process transportation documentation such as Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Delivery (POD), delivery receipts, load information, and related paperwork. Work with operations and dispatch to resolve problems and keep customers informed. Maintain accurate records and follow established company procedures. Provide general administrative and operational support to the transportation/logistics team as needed. Qualifications: Minimum of five years of customer service experience within the transportation, trucking, freight, cargo, distribution, logistics, or drayage industry. Strong understanding of transportation and logistics operations. Experience communicating with drivers, dispatchers, customers, warehouses, terminals, or carriers. Strong telephone and email communication skills. Excellent follow-up and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple shipments, customer requests, and priorities simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills. Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) or other logistics software preferred. Familiarity with transportation terminology, including BOL, POD, ETA, pickup/delivery appointments, detention, demurrage, containers, chassis, freight, loads, and dispatch preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
