Slitter Operator

Under the supervision of the Conversion Manager and Section Leader the Slitter Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of a slitting or lamination machine, producing packaging products in bag or roll stock form (per customer preference). This is a closely supervised position with some latitude for independent judgement. Performs general tasks and completes routine assignments. Receives assistance in the completion of more complex assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Sets-up and operates multiple blade slitting/rewinding machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. May include laser and macro perforation machine settings.
• Daily machine set-ups to required specifications.
• Maintains efficient machine operating speeds and minimizes waste, and downtime.
• Practices Continuous Process Improvement, maintaining Lean core values on the production line.
• Ensures compliance with safety procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to the machines within the scope of the Slitter Operator's training.
• Immediately submit written work orders to the Maintenance Department to ensure machines are fixed and maintained in a timely fashion.
• Follow the instructions of the Section Leader. Follow the job schedule, directing any questions to the Section Leader, or if not available, another member of management.
• Checks production run targets posted on the machines.
