Roving Maintenance Technician

Overview Under the general direction of the Manager, Facilities Operations, the Roving Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks including equipment maintenance, special event support, basic plumbing and electrical work, light vehicle maintenance, snow removal, landscaping, carpentry, painting, and inspection of fire alarm and generator systems at the Behavior Rehabilitation Center and ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance facilities. The Facilities team ensures all ASPCA locations are fully operational so that staff and volunteers have optimum conditions to meet program and departmental goals, and maintains a healthy environment for staff and animals. Schedule and Location Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (Monday‑Friday) and be on a rotation for emergency after‑calls. This is an on‑site role at the Weaverville and Asheville ASPCA facilities. Compensation and Benefits Starting pay: $25.00‑$26.45 per hour. Responsibilities Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining/improving overall condition of ASPCA facilities and mechanical systems. Manage supply and part inventory; inform manager of inventory status. Conduct routine facility testing and inspections (fire extinguishers, exit lights, generators, etc.). Perform preventative and predictive maintenance throughout buildings and facilities. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures. Perform general repairs: locks, hinges, doors, paint, carpentry, mounting items, flooring, gutters, etc. Maintain landscaping and property maintenance. Use hand and power tools for general repairs. Assist with facility operations, office moves, and special events. Take fire system offline with monitoring service to prevent false alarms. Transport supplies across facilities and temporary locations. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Complete other tasks assigned by Managers and Directors. Coordinate with vendors/contractors for maintenance and repairs. Use the work order system; update assigned work orders. Perform vehicle maintenance (tire pressure, fluids, lights, etc.) and schedule inspections. Qualifications Proficient with general construction practices. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and floor plans (preferred). Proficient in plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and general repairs. Proficient with hand and power tools. Proficient with online ticketing systems and Microsoft Office. Able to handle heavy moving and lifting of at least 50 lbs and maintain for long periods. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening). Valid driver’s license and ability to drive when necessary; must provide license upon hire and pass a motor vehicle history check. OSHA 10‑hour certificate (or ability to obtain within 30 days). High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in maintenance or general repair. English language proficiency. #J-18808-Ljbffr
