Apply now to embark on an exciting journey with Lexicon!Lexicon BenefitsHealth, Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceHSA with employer contributionsLife InsurancePaid Holidays and Vacation401k with company matchLexicon UniversityOur Lexicon University provides free career development and training, so employees can improve their skills in their chosen field, learn new skills in another area and build a career path that leads to job satisfaction and success for them and their families.NDE Inspector, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Responsibilities:Perform internal and external inspections to determine if a weldment/structure meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code, standard, or documentInterpret codes and specifications in accordance with the drawing requirementsUse a computer to compile and submit data of acceptance or rejection of inspections, as well as for inter-office communicationsRecommend and approve repairs as well as perform visual inspection of work in progress and completed workMonitor welding processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW), and plasma arc welding (PAW) to ensure they are performed in accordance with qualified proceduresVerify and document welder qualificationsVerify the compliance of base metals with the applicable specificationsAppraise welding joint designs and joint preparations for compliance with drawingVerify proper fit, cleanliness, and environmental conditionsVerify tack weld qualityVerify preheat and interpass temperaturesAssure the proper control and handling of welding consumablesVerify the interpass and final cleaningAssure product conformity to drawings and specificationsVerify cleanliness and weld surface qualityPerform various NDT examinations (VT), (PT), (MT), (UT)Oversee repair activitiesVerify the proper performance of post-weld heat treatmentsConfirm adequate documentation of fabrication and inspection activitiesAssist in training and developing of other teammatesSupport the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometriesInterpret and review engineering drawings as requiredInterpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to production and engineering teamsThe ability to work overtime, weekends, and regular, punctual attendance is requiredBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency certificateMust be able to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings and pass an inspector testMust be able to perform basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry and some trigonometryCurrently certified Level II in at least two NDE Methods (VT), (PT), (MT), (UT) to ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent qualificationPreferred Skills and Experience:5 years of experience in a steel fabrication shop environmentPrevious fitting and welding experience is requiredCurrent American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationAdditional nondestructive Evaluation Level II or III certifications in line with ASNT TC-1A guidance in one of the following methods: Visual Inspection (VT), Liquid Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT), or Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), or Ultrasonic Inspection (UT or UT-SW)Extensive knowledge of industry standards including AISC, AWS, CWB, and ASMELevel II in SSPC/NACE/AMPPPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, stoop, push, pull, sit, and walk frequently and be able to climb 25 ft.Exposure to temperature fluctuations and loud work environment.Occasional opportunity for travel with overnight stays.This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must show the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards. Compliance with this requirement is a fundamental condition for employment.
