Payroll Accountant

Red Bank, NJ Area | Onsite | Full-Time We are partnering with a well-established organization in the Red Bank, NJ area seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Accountant to join their accounting team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across multiple entities, including nonprofit and for-profit organizations, while playing a key role in payroll tax compliance, financial reporting, treasury management, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, payroll tax expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities Payroll & Tax Compliance Prepare and process daily payroll tax filings and payments Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations Perform monthly reconciliations with a strong focus on payroll, benefits, and tax-related accounts Support payroll accounting activities and related reporting requirements Accounting & Financial Reporting Manage full-cycle accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statements Perform month-end close activities and variance analysis Handle intercompany transactions and monthly billings Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Treasury & Cash Management Maintain banking relationships and oversee treasury operations Manage ACH activity, cash flow, and daily cash management processes Monitor and maintain accurate trust fund and investment records Oversee daily interest accruals and support jumbo CD investment activities Audit, Controls & Planning Coordinate with external auditors, banking partners, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Strengthen internal controls, payment authorization procedures, and fraud prevention initiatives Support process improvements and operational efficiencies Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Strong experience with payroll tax filings, payments, and reconciliations Experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Strong understanding of treasury management and cash flow processes Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems Why Apply?
