Job Title: Tax Preparer & Bookkeeper

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Position Summary

The Tax Preparer & Bookkeeper is responsible for managing both tax preparation and day-to-day financial recordkeeping for the organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and organized bookkeeping processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in tax laws, and experienced in maintaining financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Compliance

Gather and review financial information from clients or internal records
Prepare and complete accurate tax returns in a timely manner
Verify the accuracy of all financial data and tax filings
File federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with deadlines
Maintain organized records of all tax-related documents and filings
Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements

Bookkeeping & Financial Management

Handle day-to-day financial recordkeeping to ensure accuracy and organization
Track income and expenses to maintain clear financial visibility
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment tracking
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
Maintain and update the general ledger
Ensure financial data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly documented

Qualifications

Experience in tax preparation and bookkeeping or related field
Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices
Knowledge of current tax laws and regulations
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in accounting and tax software

Preferred Skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills for working with clients or internal teams

Work Environment

May require extended hours during tax season
