Job Description
Critical Care Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Critical Care Float Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients across multiple units, including ICU, PCU, Medical-Surgical units, and the Emergency Department as needed. This role requires flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing departmental needs while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Schedule

• Shift: 4x12 hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience is required.
• Strong experience in ICU settings with the ability to float to PCU, MS units.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Key Responsibilities

• Float between ICU, PCU, MS, and ED based on departmental requirements.
• Manage care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTIs, and acute shock.
• Utilize specialized equipment including ventilators, Artic Sun, and balloon pumps as necessary.
• Perform essential procedures such as cath lab support, TR band applications, sheath pulls, EEGs, cardioversions, and stress tests.

Special Requirements

• Must be capable of handling higher patient ratios.
• Must work two out of three major holidays.
• Resource traveler responsibilities are expected, with flexibility in unit assignment as needed.

Unit Information

This position supports a variety of clinical scenarios, requiring quick adaptation and a commitment to quality patient outcomes. The float RN will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and engage in a collaborative medical environment.

Additional Information

• Guaranteed hours: 40 hours in a workweek for 4 shifts, and 36 hours for 3 shifts.
• Parking at the facility is provided at no cost.
• Charting will be conducted using Cerner electronic health records.
