Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (D), Cardiovascular Surgery OR - Troy/Regional

Improve health, instill humanity, and inspire hope. This Full‑time, Day Shift position at Corewell Health offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading cardiovascular surgery program. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in a high‑functioning team environment while assisting in the operating room and providing on‑call coverage. Responsibilities Asses patients, recognize deviations from normal, and collaborate with physicians to formulate treatment plans. Perform surgical first‑assist duties in CABG, valve repair/replacement, complex aortic repair, ECMO, IABP, Impella, David, Ross, robotic MV, and related procedures using the Hemopro 2 system. Conduct endoscopic vein & radial artery harvest, central line placement, arterial line, chest tube placement, groin cutdown, and other procedural support. Evaluate and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests (urinalysis, blood tests, X‑rays). Provide patient triage, determine urgency, manage pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative care, and dictate follow‑up letters and documentation. Maintain preventive health services such as screening, immunizations, PAP smears, and self‑breast exams. Assist in medical decision making for complex surgical patients. Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies. 1‑3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a cardiovascular surgery setting (highly preferred). Active state of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license. AHA/ARC BLS certification. Strong clinical competencies with surgical first‑assist experience. Primary location: Royal Oak (Royal Oak Hospital); occasional cross‑coverage at Troy and Dearborn Hospitals. Regional position within Corewell Health’s surgical APP program.
