Labor One is currently hiring pipe welders in San Diego, CA at a shipyard. $160 per diem, if eligible. Job requirements include three years of experience in welding, knowledge of welding procedures, and various types of welding equipment, proficiency in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc, SMAW and flux-core, TIG welding and air arc skills. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions in English. Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings. Must pass a background check, vision test and drug test. Must be able to work any shift and overtime.

Pipe welding assessment includes FCAW fillet weld plates: 2F 3F 4F (VT test), steel backing butt joint 6X6 3/8" thick: 2G 3G 4G (VT and UT test), butt joint with ceramic backing 12X8 " thick: 1G 2G 3G (VT and UT test). Simulation includes wraps 2F 3F 36" in length, diagonal 3F 4F 36" in length, in and out corners 2F 4F 6", water tight collar, air arc fillet welds (VT testing). GTAW pipe welding assessment includes 6G position - 2.5" copper nickel pipe butt joint schedule 40 (VT and bent test), 5F, 4F position - 3" copper nickel pipe sleeve 200 (VT and macro etch test), 5F, 4F position - 1" mild steel pipe schedule socket weld 40 (VT and macro etch test).
