This role supports the backbone of our day to day business, overseeing the logistics of delivery of materials to customers throughout the bay area. In this position, you are responsible for verifying drivers have the correct material and are delivering the material to correct locations. In addition, the Dispatch Assistant also works with sales staff and customers on delivery problems, backing up delivery drivers on routes, keeping pipe yard stocked and assisting with will-call area as needed. This position backs up Dispatch Supervisor as needed.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Assists Dispatch Supervisor in ensuring trucks are ready for deliveries, loaded and routedCommunicates with drivers on cell phone for correct location and any problems that may occur on route.Works with all salesmen and customers on deliveries and problems in absence of Dispatch Supervisor.Responsible for ensuring the Pipe and Christy yard is stocked and cleaned.Backup DriverBackup for Dispatch supervisorAssist in Receiving and Will Call departments.Assist in Wire room as neededKeep track of all Wemco's and A-FramesSupervisory Responsibilities: Communicate any issues or concerns to Warehouse ManagerCompetencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Problem Solving – Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Teamwork – Contributes to building a positive team spirit.Attendance/Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time, works with receiving managers to ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Five years of driving and receiving experience.Skills: Dispatch Assistant should be detailed oriented, have good organizational skills, be a team player, and a good communicator.Provide a positive and professional attitude to all customer, vendors, and employees.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Eclipse software and Microsoft OfficeCertificates & Licenses: Forklift CertifiedClean DMV record in accordance with company insurance requirements.If there is an offer, the salary presented will consider several factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, training, and internal equity.
