Location Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center Job Description Dr. Boyne’s Lab investigates how infections and inflammation develop in the lungs, with a particular focus on host-microbial interactions that shape the airway microbiome in cystic fibrosis (CF). Using airway epithelial cell models, bacterial cultures, 3D cell culture and organoid-based systems, and patient-derived samples such as exhaled breath condensate and sputum, the lab works to uncover mechanisms that drive disease and identify potential therapeutic targets. Job Responsibilities Support ongoing studies by performing a variety of advanced molecular, cellular, and microbiological experiments. Maintain airway epithelial cell cultures and support the development and optimization of 3D culture and organoid models. Conduct assays such as transfection, bacterial adherence and internalization, PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and other cell-based assays. Assist with advanced data analysis and troubleshooting. Develop, adapt, and optimize new laboratory protocols as research needs evolve. Prepare figures for presentations and publications; perform literature searches; contribute to manuscripts and grant materials. Help manage lab supplies and inventory. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Educational requirements: bachelor’s degree in a scientific major or related field with 3 years of lab/bench or relevant experience OR master’s or higher degree with 1 year of lab/bench or relevant experience. Working knowledge of computers, ability to troubleshoot, work independently, and function as a team member; experience interacting with outside groups is desirable. Excellent command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to establish priorities, respond to a variety of requests, and maintain a clean and organized workplace. Education Bachelor's Degree: Biomedical Science (Required) Pay Range $43,680.00-$67,704.00 Salary At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
