Job Description Job Overview To provide administrative support to a Law Practice that serves Texas and also various cities throughout the US. Combine law practice experience and knowledge to assist the Lawyer and legal team in reference to running and maintaining law firm, clientele, filing system, and related software, providing ethical and efficient service. Responsibilities and Duties Criminal and Civil Law Preparing case files: Gathering information and data, and preparing case files for hearings Communicating with clients and others: Interviewing clients and law enforcement, and communicating with attorneys, staff, and the public Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. Preparing for trial: Assisting attorneys in preparing for trial, including attending hearings, trials, and depositions Drafting legal documents: Drafting pleadings, orders, notices, subpoenas, and correspondence Maintaining records: Maintaining case management databases, and documenting and maintaining required records and statistics Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys. Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements. Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items. Performs other related duties as assigned. Communicates with government agencies. Personal Injury Law Medical records: Order medical and billing records and electronically file in state and federal courts Settlement documents: Assist with the preparation of settlement documents Insurance coverage: Review policies, claims, and other records to determine insurance coverage eligibility Required Skills and Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish Ability to pass background checks Knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Family Code, county local rules, and individual court policies and procedures for Hidalgo and Bexar County Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters Knowledge of e-filing system (state and federal) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment at times, and not be easily stressed by difficult clients or handling multiple tasks simultaneously Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish Initiative and the ability to self-start Excellent time management skills with proven maintain due dates/deadlines Punctuality Reliable transportation, Valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Preferred Qualifications and Skills Multi-tasking Strong work ethic Culturally competent and emotionally intelligent Deadline management Managing a high-volume phone (phone calls and text messages) Education and Experience Two years of experience in Family, Criminal, and or Personal Injury law firm setting High School Diploma or GED College degree preferred Immigration Law experience preferred Job Type: Full-Time 40-hour work week. M-F, 9a-6p, with 1-hour lunch with rotating Saturdays. Compensation: $23.00 to $27.00/hour with the ability to grow, learn, and be challenged, depending on experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
