Travel RN - Telemetry

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a busy 23-bed medical surgical unit requiring 2 years of post-op surgical experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Job Details

• 23-bed medical surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients,
• Occasional overflow patients from medicine units when beds are available,
• Fast-paced unit typically receiving 10-20 post-op admissions per day,
• Unit equipped with cardiac and O2 monitoring capability,
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30,
• Float to other units or nearby affiliate hospitals based on skillset,
• Expected to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays,

Job Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required,
• 2 years of RN experience required in a related specialty,
• BLS certification required,
• Strong medical and surgical nursing skillset required,
• Experience caring for post-op orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgery patients strongly preferred,
• Must pass an EKG exam during onboarding,
• First-time travelers considered only if they have several years of experience with post-op ortho and GI surgery patients,
• At least one professional reference required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for post-op surgical patients including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and wound care,
• Skills include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration,
• Respiratory care skills such as BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management may be required,
• Experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and PCA management is relevant to this role,
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles are not accepted for this position,
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from all UK-affiliated facilities for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler,
• All requested time off must be disclosed prior to starting the assignment
