RN Operating Room

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides skilled nursing care by assessing patient needs, planning and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team. This role requires expertise in surgical nursing, including circulating and scrub responsibilities, with a focus on promoting patient safety and quality outcomes. The RN is expected to maintain professional standards, participate in ongoing education, and provide leadership within the practice setting. Flexibility to work variable day shifts with on-call duties is essential. Responsibilities:

• Collect comprehensive patient data relevant to health or surgical situation (Assessment).
• Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses or issues.
• Identify expected outcomes and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement nursing care plans and strategies to promote health and safety.
• Enhance quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through systematic evaluation.
• Maintain current knowledge and competency reflecting best nursing practices.
• Evaluate own nursing practice against professional standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into clinical practice.
• Provide leadership and contribute to the professional development of peers.
• Comply with hospital policies related to care of patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.
• Participate in stroke education and other required training.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Montana.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 18 months experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work varied shifts and maintain professionalism in high-stress environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• At least 1 year of circulating experience in the OR.
• At least 1 year of scrub experience in the OR.
• Stroke competency and related education.

Special Considerations:

• Variable day shifts with on-call responsibilities requiring flexibility to cover all shifts.
• Work in a busy, high-acuity surgical environment requiring strong emotional intelligence and teamwork.
• Compliance with hospital protocols for stroke and surgical patient care.

Scheduling:

• Full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position with variable day shifts.
• Shift assignments include on-call duties to provide coverage as needed.
