Unit notes: Need 3's and 4's in neuro and experience in all service lines. Experience or'must have' skills: staff must be well versed on all surgical procedures since we don't have specialized teams for each service line. Radius rule: 50 miles and candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles. Fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RN's - pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation. Open book exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated. Certifications required: BLS & ACLS. Number of suites: 7 ORs, 2 endo suites. Common cases: adults, geriatrics, peds, obstetric. Neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general, Davinci robotics. Is there a manager/charge nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge nurse - OR techs? Yes. EMR: EPIC. Shifts & scheduling (do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1500. All staff are scheduled 5 days a week. Weeknight/call requirements: 1 night a week on call. Weekend/call requirements: every 5th or 6th weekend (Sat/Sun) on call. Holiday/call requirements: rotating holiday call. Floating requirements: pre/post op, PACU if trained, ER for trauma cases. Scrub color/dress code: provided. How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 1 week in the OR. Additional notes: core staff here have a lot of longevity in the hospital and department. The comradery and teamwork is exceptional and their commitment to safety is taken very seriously. Attributes that will help make a nurse successful in this department include flexibility to varied daily surgical schedule, teamwork, willingness to share experiences and educate others. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
