Nursing ManagerUniversity Health Services (UHS) is your comprehensive on-campus healthcare resource. The Nursing Manager is directly responsible for the leadership and supervision of the registered nurses and indirectly for the licensed practical nurses in the assigned area. This position participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure quality nursing care for all patients and is also responsible for HIPAA compliance, credentialing verification, fiscal and budgetary management, and delegation to nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient operations.Supervise and provide leadership to the Registered Nurses and LPN nursing staff; may also oversee wage employeesMentor the RN nurse team leaders in Clinical Services; encourage and model constructive communication among all nursing staff via regular meetingsEvaluate patient care activities through multiple modes such as periodic chart review, peer review, and statistical report review, as well as monitoring after-hours advice recommendations for the care of studentsParticipate in quality improvement activities within assigned departmentCreate and continually monitor the nurse schedule to ensure safe and adequate daily coverage for patient careSupport, and advocate for the coordination of care and referrals to professional community specialists and service organizationsOversee phone triage and office support staff dutiesOversee budget and capital improvement projects; ensure services conform to university standards and policiesProvide budgetary guidance and assistance as neededDevelop, revise, and implement unit policies and procedures and ensure that standards are met; provide leadership for the development and implementation of nursing protocols, standards, and goalsInterview and hire nursing staff; oversee training for nursing personnel to ensure a smooth transition for new employees as well as current staff and participate in the selection process for new employeesDevelop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a wide range of health services, including primary patient care, emergency care, health education, and wellness program planningMaintain a relationship with the University nursing units to facilitate cooperation and collaborationOversee the administration of policies from the University, federal, local, and state guidelines consistent with FERPA and HIPAAMinimum Education, Work Experience & Required CertificationsBachelor's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience Required Certifications: Registered Nurse - Pennsylvania State Board of NursingBackground Checks/ClearancesThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
