Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through close-out. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, field staff, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and design partners to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and Skanska standards. The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in project administration, cost control, schedule monitoring, subcontractor coordination, change management, procurement support, and documentation management, while helping drive collaboration across the project team. The Assistant Project Manager helps maintain project controls and reporting, supports contract and purchase order administration, manages submittals and RFIs, assists with buyout and procurement activities, and contributes to schedule updates based on project progress, trade coordination, and material lead times. This position also supports field operations by participating in site visits, monitoring installation progress, helping address project issues, and promoting quality and safety throughout all phases of construction. The role requires strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship management skills, along with a commitment to Skanska’s Injury-Free Environment and Care for Life initiatives. Responsibilities may vary based on project size, complexity, phase, and delivery method. Assistant Project Manager Required Qualifications: 5+ Years of experience creating documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts. 5+ years of reading and understanding construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Able to outline specifications required for submission to clients and ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved. 5+ years preparing subcontract scopes and contracts. 3+ years experience with project close out. 2+ years working with cost control systems. Bachelor’s Degree – Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience.
