Position Police Officer – Certified Qualifications Completed Police Academy and TCOLE certification (or enrollment in a Texas Police Academy, expected to be completed within the specified timeframe). Higher education: Bachelor's degree (expected or completed within 180 days of application) from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Military experience: Two years of active United States Armed Forces service with an honorable discharge (or expected discharge within 180 days). Military reservist experience: Completion of at least six years of military obligation (US Military Reservists). Employment stability: A continuous employment history of five or more years at a single employer or owner of a business, demonstrating professional growth and achievement. U.S. citizenship, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and no history of conduct that would disqualify for law‑enforcement work. Pass a physical fitness test, oral interview, polygraph examination, and a thorough background investigation. Non‑smokers are preferred. Benefits & Compensation Starting annual salary $78,250 ($37.62 per hour), increasing up to $105,685 at Step 10 (after nine years of service). Interim pay of $64,314 annually (Police Officer – Non‑Certified) until licensing is achieved. Performance awards up to $4,000 per year. Educational incentives: Associate’s degree $600 annually; Bachelor’s degree $1,200 annually; Master’s degree $1,800 annually. TCOLE Certificates incentives: Intermediate $600; Advanced $1,200; Master $1,800 annually. Field Training Officer $1,500 annually; Field Training Coordinator $3,000 annually. SWAT or Crisis Negotiator assignment pay $1,500 annually. Longevity pay $4 per month (up to $1,200 annually) after 13 months of employment. Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with 7% contribution and 2:1 city match. Health benefits, including city‑subsidized medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance. Uniforms, weapons, and equipment provided. 13 paid holidays annually. 80 hours paid vacation annually (up to 160 hours at 11 years of service). Paid sick leave accrual of 3.69 hours per pay period. Paid parental leave up to six weeks. Fitness incentive program up to 80 hours paid leave annually. Additional specialty and assignment pays available.
