Senior Litigation Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to lead and manage complex civil litigation matters with a primary focus on personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will develop litigation strategy, drive case preparation from intake through resolution, represent clients in hearings and trials as needed, and mentor junior attorneys and support staff. This role requires strong advocacy, excellent legal writing and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a docket of complex civil and personal injury litigation matters from intake to resolution, including case evaluation, strategy development, and settlement negotiations.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents in a timely and persuasive manner.
• Conduct and supervise discovery activities, including written discovery, depositions, subpoenas, and expert retention and preparation.
• Prepare witnesses and clients for hearings and trial, including developing case themes, exhibits, and courtroom strategy.
• Represent clients at court appearances, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, insurers, and other parties while protecting client interests and maximizing recovery.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior attorneys, associates, and paralegals; review work product for quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with insurance contacts, experts, and outside counsel; manage outside vendor relationships and budgets.
• Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and regular client communication; meet firm productivity and ethical standards.
• Monitor changes in relevant laws and precedents and apply them to case strategies and client advice.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in the state bar.
• Minimum 5-8 years of civil litigation experience with demonstrated experience handling personal injury cases.
• Proven litigation skills including legal research, persuasive writing, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy.
• Experience managing complex discovery and working with experts in personal injury matters.
• Trial experience is highly desirable (preferred), with comfort representing clients in jury and bench trials.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of achieving favorable settlements and verdicts.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentorship abilities, and experience supervising junior attorneys and support staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and client-management skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and compassionately.
• High ethical standards, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
