Facilities Technician

Facilities TechnicianViewpoint School is currently seeking a skilled, dependable, and service-oriented Facilities Technician to join the Facilities Department. This position is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and operation of campus buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and building systems. In addition, this role assists with general facility maintenance, campus improvement projects, and event support, helping to maintain a first-class educational environment across Viewpoint's 40-acre campus.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on campus buildings, equipment, and infrastructureTroubleshoot and complete minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and mechanical systemsAssist with routine HVAC maintenance, including filter changes, equipment inspections, and coordination with outside service providersRespond promptly to work orders and service requests involving lighting, fixtures, outlets, doors, locks, hardware, restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areasComplete general facility maintenance tasks including painting, patching walls, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry repairs, and minor construction projectsConduct routine inspections of campus facilities and proactively identify maintenance, safety, and operational concernsAssist with maintaining campus appearance and functionality, including exterior spaces, walkways, fencing, signage, furnishings, and support equipmentSupport school events, athletics, performances, meetings, and special programs through facility setup and teardown, including tables, chairs, staging, equipment, and room configurationsBe available for occasional evening and weekend work to support events, athletic programs, emergencies, special projects, and campus operationsMaintain tools, equipment, inventory, and maintenance records in an organized mannerCoordinate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, contractors, and vendorsFollow all OSHA, CAL-OSHA, and school safety policies and proceduresParticipate in emergency response activities and after-hours facility support as neededQualifications:Minimum of five (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related tradeDemonstrated ability to perform general maintenance tasks involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systemsWorking knowledge of commercial building systems and preventative maintenance practicesHigh school diploma or GED required; trade school, technical certifications, or related education preferredGeneral knowledge of OSHA and CAL-OSHA safety standardsValid California driver's license and acceptable driving recordAbility to work independently and prioritize multiple assignmentsStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workExcellent customer-service skills and ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, parents, and contractorsDependable, adaptable, and willing to support the evolving needs of the Facilities DepartmentPhysical Requirements:Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 poundsWork on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, and elevated work areasFrequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motionsOperate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, carts, and school vehicles safelyWalk and stand for extended periods throughout a 40-acre campusWork both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to read work orders, blueprints, equipment manuals, and safety documentationVision and manual dexterity sufficient to inspect equipment, perform repairs, and operate tools safelySchedule: This position generally works daytime business hours; however, flexibility is required. Occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency response assignments are expected to support school events, campus activities, and operational needsCompensation: Anticipated compensation is $30.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience
