Property: Full-service, 147 rooms — Anchor Bar & Lounge, ~4,000 sq ft flexible event space, on-site catering, indoor pool & fitness, 24/7 airport shuttle

Reports to: General Manager

Department: Rooms / Operations

Status: Full-time, Exempt (Salaried)

Compensation: $50,000–$55,000 annually, plus quarterly incentive bonus eligibility

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in the day-to-day operation of the hotel, with primary ownership of the Rooms division — Front Office, Housekeeping, and Guest Services. This role is the operational anchor of the property: driving guest satisfaction, developing frontline leaders, holding service and cleanliness standards, and stepping in as the senior leader on-property in the GM's absence. The AGM at an airport hotel manages a high-volume, fast-turn operation where consistency and recovery define the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Rooms & Front Office Operations

• Directly oversee Front Office, Housekeeping, and Guest Services to deliver consistent, brand-standard service across all shifts.
• Own the guest experience — monitor Marriott Bonvoy / GSS scores, respond to guest feedback promptly, and lead service-recovery efforts.
• Manage room inventory, rate strategy execution, and daily yield decisions in partnership with the GM and revenue team.
• Ensure cleanliness and readiness of all guestrooms and public areas to brand and Shamin standards.
• Coordinate front-desk coverage of the 24/7 airport shuttle and arrival/departure flow typical of an airport property.

Leadership & Team Development

• Recruit, train, schedule, and develop Rooms division staff; build bench strength and a pipeline of promotable talent.
• Conduct performance coaching, deliver reviews, and address employee relations issues in partnership with HR.
• Lead daily stand-ups and pre-shift meetings; communicate goals, standards, and recognition.
• Foster a positive, accountable culture aligned with Shamin's values and Marriott brand expectations.

Financial & Administrative

• Assist in building and managing the departmental budget; control labor and expenses against forecast.
• Review daily reports (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, labor) and act on variances.
• Approve departmental scheduling and payroll in Paycom; ensure accurate time and attendance records.
• Support the GM with month-end, P&L review, and ownership/brand reporting as needed.

Standards, Safety & Compliance

• Serve as Manager on Duty and senior on-property leader in the GM's absence.
• Uphold Marriott brand standards and pass brand quality audits.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and OSHA/VOSH requirements; support emergency and life-safety procedures.
• Maintain compliance with applicable Virginia and federal employment law in partnership with HR.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $50,000–$55,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus quarterly incentive bonus eligibility. Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of hotel management experience, with a strong Front Office or Rooms division background.
• Demonstrated leadership of frontline teams and the ability to manage multiple departments simultaneously.
• Proven guest-service orientation and experience driving satisfaction scores.
• Working knowledge of hotel financials — labor management, forecasting, and expense control.
• Proficiency with property management systems and comfort learning brand and company platforms.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as operations require.

Preferred

• Experience with a Marriott brand or comparable full-service flag.
• Familiarity with Marriott systems (FOSSE / FSPMS, Bonvoy) and Paycom.
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience in an airport or high-volume transient hotel.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and move about all areas of the property, including stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Work is performed on-property in an active hotel environment across all shifts.
